COMPANY OVERVIEW

 

A well-known Japanese Chemical Company specializing in advanced materials and solutions for various industries is seeking an ambitious and motivated professional to lead a newly created chemical compliance role. The candidate must have diverse experience in a previous chemical compliance role, be a strong communicator, and an acumen for building robust company policies and procedures while ensuring timely fulfilment of chemical reporting to US Government Agencies. The ideal candidate should work autonomously, while simultaneously demonstrating effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate across diverse teams and cultures.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Develop, implement, and maintain chemical compliance policies and procedures to effectively manage regulatory requirements for the North American (N.A.) region, both in the United States and Mexico. These encompass TSCA, California Prop 65, PFAS, HFC, and other regulations pertinent to this company's group products. 

  • Project, manage, analyze, and prepare regulatory reports to ensure accurate and timely submissions, including but not limited to CDR, PFAS, and HFC reports, by working closely with key business units/production sites to collect necessary information as may be required. 

  • Verify and manage required Safety Data Sheets for all the company's products; efficiently manage the company's existing Chemtrec Account to ensure the company's remains compliant. 

  • Communicate with external stakeholders, including Japanese business units and/or N.A. production sites, regulatory agencies, and consultants to address regulatory inquiries and concerns related to products sold or manufactured in North America. 

  • Work with the Sales Divisions and N.A. Group companies to conduct comprehensive assessments of new products, reformulated products, and new industry regulations to ensure the Group’s compliance both to US, Mexican, and global regulations. 

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and optimization; build awareness of policies and procedures within the chemical compliance function. 

 

Position Qualifications

 

  • Ability to effectively solve problems and develop timely solutions. 

  • Strong understanding of chemical compliance, including TSCA, California Prop 65, PFAS, HFC, and similar regulations. 

  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to assess complex technical and regulatory information. 

  • Detail-oriented with strong time management capabilities. 

  • Travel 5% (10% maximum). 

 

Education / Position Requirements: 

 

  • B.S. degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Material Science, Engineering, or related field 

  • An alternate bachelor’s degree may be considered if years of applicable experience meet position requirements.

  • Minimum of 3-5 years proven experience in a Chemical Compliance or similar position, 5-7 years of experience preferred. 

 

SALARY

USD 110,000- 130,000 (depends on location)
