Executive Director - Japanese/English Bilingual

A Japanese consulting firm is looking for Executive Director.
This position will lead the cross-border M&A advisory division, working primarily with Japanese clients.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deal Sourcing, Negotiation & Transaction Management: Lead the identification and sourcing of investment opportunities across various sectors and asset classes.
  • Conduct thorough due diligence on potential investments, assessing
  • financial performance, market dynamics, and risk factors.
  • Client Relationship Management: Collaborate closely with the executive teams and stakeholders of Japanese companies to build strong, long-term relationships and enhance client satisfaction.
  • Collaboration with Regional Teams: Work closely with local legal, financial, and tax experts to ensure smooth execution of cross-border M&A transactions.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate legal, financial, and cultural risks associated with cross-border transactions.
  • Business Development: Expand the network of Japanese clients and generate new M&A advisory opportunities in the cross-border space.
  • Cultural Facilitation: Serve as a cultural bridge between Japanese clients and counterparties, ensuring effective communication and mutual understanding.
  • Compliance & Regulatory Adherence: Ensure that all transactions comply with relevant legal and regulatory requirements, providing appropriate guidance to clients.

REQUIREMENTS
  • 10+ years of experience in M&A advisory, buy-side investment banking, private equity, asset management, or related fields.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Japanese and English (both written and spoken for business communication).
  • Proven track record of successfully sourcing, executing, and managing investment transactions across diverse industries and asset classes.
  • Strong understanding of the cultural differences between Japan and the U.S. or other countries, and the ability to facilitate smooth communication between parties.
  • Ability to establish and maintain trust-based relationships with senior executives at Japanese companies and build long-term partnerships.
  • Deep knowledge of financial analysis, legal frameworks, and compliance related to cross-border M&A transactions.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and lead international teams effectively.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field (MBA or equivalent qualifications preferred).
 
SALARY & BENEFITS
