This position involves managerial responsibilities for drafting contracts and addressing various legal issues, including team management.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Legal Support
- Drafting and reviewing contracts, agreements, and other legal documents, including proofreading and corrections.
- Conducting legal research and preparing presentations.
- Handling compliance issues with federal and state agencies, including CA/HHS/CMS.
- Preparing shareholder/directors meetings and filing compliance reports.
- Responding to inquiries from government/regulatory agencies, customers, professionals, and business communities.
Administration
- Managing records and document retention for legal documents (organizing and maintaining documents in paper or electronic filing systems, and contract lifetime management).
- Communication, including email and/or answering phones, taking messages, and engaging in communications with outside professionals (mainly law firms).
- Managing litigation schedules.
Others
- Organizing and attending legal meetings, taking minutes (with/without outside professionals).
- Providing general office support for the legal department, including miscellaneous clerical duties.
- Any other duties or tasks required by a supervisor.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
Core Competencies:
- Proven multitasking abilities and adept at handling day-to-day activities.
- Proficient in MS Office, legal research, and contract management software.
- Demonstrates strategic thinking, ethical conduct, personal effectiveness, credibility, and thoroughness.
Strong organizational skills, is a quick and efficient learner and demonstrates excellent teamwork. - Clear communication skills (seeing, hearing, speaking, and writing).
- Manual dexterity for occasional reaching, lifting, and operating office equipment.
Skills/Experience Required:
- 7-10 years of relevant in-house or law firm experience.
- Effective collaboration skills with broad business and sound legal judgment.
- Exceptional oral, written, and presentation communication skills, preferably in a multicultural environment.
- Previous experience in medical device, medical equipment, or pharmaceutical companies, either in a firm or in-house.
- Working knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, guidance, and industry codes in the medical sector.
- Proficiency in English (writing, reading, listening,and speaking) is essential for effective communication between office staff and external parties.
Preferred Requirements:
- JD or LLM from an ABA accredited law school (or renowned worldwide law school).
- Licensed to practice law in California or New York.
WORK CONDITIONS
- Full-time with regular 8-hour days, potential for overtime.
- Hybrid (remote/on-site) work model, with a requirement to be present at the Irvine office 2-3 days per week.
SALARY
